Programming Note: GLBT Pride Weekend at GDPR

As many of you know, June is Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month. Across the nation (and the world), pride parades and festivals and events are being held and GLBT people (and their allies) are celebrating with good reason. Cases like the recently won Massachusetts marriage battle show that we are making progress toward making the US and other nations safer and more livable for the inclusive gay community and we are making small strides toward finally being equal under law. At the same time, Pride month is a time to remember the battles of the past and to energize for the continuing fight. After all, even in the US, WE ARE NOT EQUAL. No one is equal if anyone is unequal under civil law, so there is much to be done.

With that in mind, Grateful Dread Public Radio will hold its on-the-air GLBT Pride Weekend on Saturday and Sunday, June 22 and 23. Throughout the weekend, tune in for special programming devoted to GLBT issues, queer music and more, including material from the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, This Way Out, the National Radio Project and more. I'll have a specific schedule up tomorrow.

Join us for GDPR's 2007 Pride Weekend. And this weekend and all year long, do your part to make America finally be what it now claims falsely: a place of equality for all.
